Title: Advice on - Audi turbo diesel engine.
Post by: ein bora on March 08, 2009, 09:39:53 am
Okay so I just bought a 2.0 5-cylinder Audi turbo diesel engine that's in a 83 Audi 5000 off of a fellow GTD member. Bought the whole car as it'll have many a usable part but mainly because I understand the motor will be a direct bolt in swap for my 92 VW euro van to replace the broken 5 cylinder Audi gas that's in there now. I've done some reading on this diesel motor and since I'm going to be looking at rebuilding it anyway, and I guess this is more of a generic diesel question - I'm open to any advice or input on how best to increase the power output on this 5 cylinder engine. For the most part I'm thinking the usual tricks like intercooler, larger exhaust, but what else might I do as I'll have the thing apart anyway?? And then of coarse I'm also wondering about the injection pump and what can be done if anything to increase the power outage as we can do to a 1.6 -1.9 pump?
Any advice or links to information much appreciated.
Thanks.

2,0 is pretty much a 1,6 with extra cylinder. Any 1,6 mods will work with 2,0 too.

This would be nice in a rabbit with a compound turbo set-up

I just saw a new set of KS pistons for a volvo 24d or dt on the samba for 200 bucks.  I think they are the same.
