Title: How to replace intermediate shaft bearings.

I'm doing a quickie refresh of the bottom end even though the rod/main bearings looked great, but I never gave much thought to the Int. Shaft. How vital is their replacement, what is involved, if I don't replace them what do I risk? The Int. shaft seems nice and solid with nothing alarming or anything as far as slop or play is concerned.

shaft bearing can be cause of low oil psi.They need to be pulled out and pressed in.I used lond threaded rod with a 1" pipe cap.I tapped the cap for the rod thread.With some grinding 1"cap works nicely due to the extra material around the base of the cap for the bearing to sit on.The other end is a piece of flat steel and a nut to pull them in/out.Believe it or not,I got the idea from this forum actually! :shock:  8)
