Title: Wiring pin-out 1986 + Speedo sending unit

Can anyone tell me what the 3 wires are for this VW sending unit ? My Caravan's sending unit only has 2 wires so I'm guessing the Germans included a grounding wire...
 My Bentley is only up to 1983 I think...

I found a clue - maybe the Brown wire is ground ? I found this polo diagram and a hall sensor for the distributor, but none for the speedo
