I remember reading a thread about this a while ago, but couldn't find it.
Can an IP with a high altitude compensator be altered to act like an LDA? Or rather, does an HAC operate just like an LDA (but in reverse maybe)?

Yes you can. The diaphragm must get boost pressure going to the top side of the diaphragm, thus pushing down the pin under the diaphragm to increase fueling. The underside of the diaphragm should be vented to allow the air to escape. I have one on my shelf that worked fine until it developed a leak.

That's correct, I just did this myself last fall, all I did was swap over the fittings to the new pump (boost line and the vent below it as the HAC has slightly different connections)
