Will a tdi transmission bolt up to this motor and lower my rpm range? Stock axles bolt up and linkage?
Will a golf or jetta transmission work?
Thanks

Yes
Will a golf or jetta transmission work?
If it is TDI.

Pretty much exactly what MJF said. You'll want to get a 02A transmission

All Passats have 02A from factory.

I think the AAZ uses a rod shifted 020, guys. At least my Passat doner did. The TDI tranny was a cable-shift 02A. VERY different.

It´s not from factory.

i know someone with a cable shift '93 passat with a 1.9 AAZ. he sold it to Giles. He then installed the TDI box. maybe some came with it and some didn't? regardless, the whole shifter assembly can be taken out and swapped either way (to cable or to rod, or you can pony up and install a cable shift if not)

Cable shift is highly superior.
The transmissions are tougher as well.

You can check from etka, Passat never had 020. Even 1,6 carb had 02A :) Everything can be installed afterwards, that can explain stewardc´s doner Passat
