Just curious if a 1.9TD (aaz) crank is the same as a TDI crank.
Just looking for options to this crank pulley upgrade for the fabled wobbly pulleys on the TD.
-
yes, its the same. When my pulley started its death wobble its the route I went. I believe its NW fuel injection down the road in van that can machine your crank in place to accept a tdi pulley or pop it out & have it machined to fit. There have been a few alternative methods successfully tried too.
-
which method would you think is the better one? im sure machining the stock 1.9td crank would be the most cost effective one but at the same time this is a rebuild engine so a new crank wouldn't hurt either.
-
I know there are others here who have tried all the options so stand by...

I have done a re-machined crank to accept the TDI pulley.....done by fastTD! no problems or complaints there....excellent work - this was done on my sisters car while I was rebuilding the motor after a TB broke.
My golf im running a new bolt and gear with 2 dowel pins. I didnt want to pull/rebuild the motor, so thats why I chose this method. I plan on using the same one on the motor I will be building for my corrado.

The only TDI cranks you can use as direct replacements are the 1Z and AHU. The others have an oil pump gear on them.

awesome thanks for the info!
