Post by: derekp on November 18, 2008, 05:12:38 am
Where can I buy a crank bolt for the timing belt sprocket?
PartsPlace tells me they dont have them and local VW claims they cant get them

Sources appreciated!
Thanks!

I bought mine, all 3 of them, from my local VW dealer.  It's the same bolt as the AAZ engine, listed in ETKA as :
Quote
"905 771 01"        "12 point socket head screw"   "M14X1,5X47"

Sounds like your local dealer parts jockeys are lazy and didn't bother to do any cross referencing to me.

lazy is an understatement.
They come out to the counter with a picture of the affected area.
If the part is not pictured or not exactly for that year make model they shrug and say "sorry".
Thanks for the info I'll try them again.

Hardware store

forget what size mm but its metric fine. use a high grade bolt.

Dont care what anyone says, a good grade bolt beats a vw bolt anyday.
