Title: IP too far advanced timing symptoms

Can someone tell me what the symptoms are of the IP being times too advanced?

although mine showed 1.05mm at the dial i think i am too advance too.
diesel smell and smoke at start up and whitish/black under load(black is normal,i have the pump maxed out)


i think that these are also symptoms correct?

Well mine pulls as good with the Giles pump as a 1.6D can, I onlt puff black smoke at low rpm under load but it is noisy.
