Hello everyone!
I was slightly confused here with something I was trying to do. I wanted to order a complete aaz head as shown
http://www.dieselvw.com/AAZHead.htm
and it says it needs 8mm valves. Ok, so I looked for 8mm valves and I find the intake ones here
http://www.dieselvw.com/069109601HIntakeValve.htm
so I think to my self, " ok now i need 8mm exhaust valves, but where are they?"
http://www.dieselvw.com/Diesel.htm
there is an exhaust aaz valve shown but if you go to it, it is a 7mm valve.
Does the aaz head take 7mm exhaust valves and 8mm intake valves? Or am I missing something?
I tried calling the site office but they are closed until the 23rd. I really need the parts soon and they still ship orders done online on the site. So I am just wondering if it is I that is missing something or the website?
Thanks.

What are you rgoing to be into it after shipping ect going that way?
Try to add a tad to it for your time assembling it then having a machine shop lap the valves unless you are going to do it.

I'm not a stickler for performance i just need a new head because mine has cracks and i can't drive the car at all anymroe so im going to "do" the head my self. I figured i may as well upgrade to an aaz head if im going to be going through the trouble of getting a new one and prothe is my only option due to *sigh* money
and about $700 CAD and that includes rings for all 4 cyls, oil temp, egt, boost gauges+senders. and a TDI intake (thats 100$ in its self :( ) valves, valve stem seals
oh and the HG + turbo gaskets
and the cam

Well if your budget is realistic then it sounds like your ok.
You can get a complete AAZ head from Bleachedbora off this board for just under $700 I think. Complete with cam valves etc.
Just wanted to make sure you weren't spending 650 on a head you had to build yourself when you can get a OE Quality head for $700.00.

o
yeah i would have to build it my self....
im going to look at the page you linked i think.
wow thanks for looking out for me like that

Here is his site.
I drive by his place twice a day, still haven't stopped in though :(

hmmm well i did both shopping carts and his head is an extra 300$ and its built. If school wasn't so expensive i'd do it but i have "some" free time so i don't mind building it my self. good experience too. and i can get all the other stuff i wanted in the same order.
-
Dont forget,
You cant just drop in new valves, they are going to need to be lapped to the seats..
-
Yupp. I'll get some compound
and assembely lube too
-
You can put 7mm guides in the head as 7mm valves are much easier to come by. My AAZ head had 8mm for both intake and exhaust.
-
No way!!!
so if i get 4 7mm guides and 4 8mm guides i can go 50/50????
so like all intake valves are 8mm and the exhaust are the 7mm ones?
(THANKS JIM!!!)
oh crap.
would you need different valve guides? or just the valve stem seats?

Yep, my 1.9 head has 8mm guides. The valves I ordered for it have 8mm stems too.
If you want to run 7mm valves, you'll have to change the guides to 7mm. They'd flop around in 8mm guides.

YEEEUSSSS I don't have to wait ANY LONGER!!!!
thanks everyone!
