I was doing web search for VW diesel parts and came up with these guys
(these all point to the same site)

They have quite selection of interesting parts (Turbo / internal injection pump parts / $4 intake valves, $7 exhaust (same price as my jobber))
$18 gasket kits and $10 head gaskets seem cheap, as do $25 oil pumps
Has anyone bought from them? Their site is pretty new and I like to be cautious on internet sales. It does have lots of nice pics (tho the aspect ratio is a bit tweaked from Firefox (Maybe from IE too?, I don't use MS stuff)

that is a prothe site. be wary of some of the timing belt stuff as some people have reported early timing belt failures.
i see that he has TDI injectors for sale now... and damn cheap too! i wonder how they compare... this will really make converting a 1.9TD into a TDI very cost effective!
back on track - the parts on his site are cheap, and likewise cheaply made. if you're really strapped for cash i'd say buy from the site, but don't expect OEM quality. only run stock power and it will probably last.

How many sites does this dude have? Seems like every weeks someone posts a new site of his. I guess that way he doesn't have to deal with all the complaints linked to his old sites but sheesh, why not just offer better products?

I see it as good marketing.

I'll bet even if you just bought them for the injector body and installed some OE tips in them it would be a cost savings.

hey prothe are you able to find K14 oil return lines for either 1.6 or 1.9?
i see you have some for T3/K24 they look decent too for 20bucks!
i'll prolly get some of them!

Sometime in the next year I'll buy a bunch of diffrerent oil lines. I don't even have the ones advertised on my website now. The supplier is really jerking me around.
your frekin kiddin! i was gonna order finally from you and get about 5 of those oil return lines for T3/K24!
well can you let me know here when you get them in?

Many of you have had good and bad with prothe. I will say this, I have bought stuff and had mixed results. I will buy some of the parts on there, but will NOT buy a pump that he has worked on. I got one of his and the bracket for the cold start wasn't even on it. It was dirty and made my car run worse than before. So no more stuff that he works on. I will buy parts and install myself but that is it. The worst part is I am a guy that needs talked to if I have problems and it took pretty much 3 weeks to get a response after the bracket deal. He was on vacation for part of it, but still. I understand that having sub oem parts is better than not having a part at all, but I want service as well.
I have my TD pump in the car in a box right now waiting to be shipped to GILES...can't wait.

I'm working on my pumps. My lead pump rebuilder that I had since I started died, so all of my rebuilders are pretty inexperienced right now. And my rebuilders have had more orders than time ever since. After I finish moving into a larger office, I will implement some new procedures to make sure that all of the pumps I rebuild are absolutely top quality. After I do that, I plan on exanding rebuilt pump sales to Europe, and work on some bolt-on M-TDI options.
hope that works out. its always good to have a cheaper and somewhat reliable alternative.
btw prothe, can you get a hold of the TD pump tops??? that would be a HOT item especially if you ever decided to sell a turbo conversion kit. :wink: or take a look at the callaway turbo kit (i believe its in the FAQ section)

Prothe: What is the recommened clearance for the 1mm over 1.6 pistons, there should be a spec provided by the MFG. I have asked this twice with no reply. Machine shops want to know the spec provided by piston MFG and not that of VW OEM pistons.
Fortunately my friend's (Ken D in VT) IP woes are behind us now (I won't go through the details again), thanks for working with us on the cost of replacement parts, that helped!
Too be honest, I think your parts are a good value and I will continue to buy stuff from you, but never again on an IP: It was filthy dirty, had no caps on it and was bouncing around in a beat up cardboard box with no packaging at all, not to mention the "problems" we found inside the IP. The rotorhead was not even replaced, it was a used unit with frozen in delivery valves.
Glad you have a new pump guy, hope he has his *** together.

don't go by the MFG... just go by the bentley. the close tolerances of the diesel engine are specific from VW engineers. i think why they want to know is because cast pistons don't expand as much as forged.

Cylinder diameter
3rd oversize (1 mm)......... 81.48mm (3.2079 in)

I believe he's looking for the piston to cylinder wall clearance..
Vw spec is .03mm with .07mm being the max
Pending on the manufacturer the alloy can differ quite a bit.. For instance a piston made form 4032 alloy which has about 11% silcon in the mix will expand far less than say a piston made from 2618 which is less than 2% silicon... And both of these alloys can be used in both forged and cast pistons.. SO it is best to use the piston manufacturer's spec...
I've even gotten genuine Mercedes pistons that have a spec that differs from the books.. Usually because of an update since the service manuals were printed...

A another new product that I just got in is a 6 hole .205mm TDI nozzle. The normal TDI nozzles have only 5 holes, so the 6 hole nozzle should flow a lot more fuel.
It's this kind of promoting that is against forum rules.
I hope people discuss your products. You are certainly welcome to discuss them as well. However, you personally promoting products that you sell needs to be done in the vendors section.
Does anyone think that this topic should be deleted? Or maybe just the topics that slander my websites should be allowed to stay, and anything positive that is said should be deleted. Maybe that would be more fair to the moderators, most of whom are vendors.
:roll: I think you need to take a step back and reconsider what you just wrote. Considering how many people you have screwed over with your "rebuilt pumps" I think you should be greateful that you haven't been banned yet.

When I told Giles that it was the best 300.00 I ever spent he almost died. Then I explained myself by saying that I will never ever have to spend that money again. Fool me once shame on you fool me twice shame on me...I will buy the cheap parts but will do without on anything "service" by this guy.
There is a need for cheap stuff, but the pumps....I guess that is why they sell sleeping medication
