Title: Best way to re-wire rad fan.
Post by: AndrewSE on August 11, 2008, 12:10:25 pm
Hi guys !

Ok the prevous owner of my 91 Jetta diesel decided to chop the rad fan wires & put the wrong fan in  (cut the blades to get it to fit) and wired up a switch in the car to turn the fan on/off. (no longer works)

For the time being I don't have the cash to replace the rad sensor, harness and fan to get it to work as it should.

I managed to pull a rad fan out of a 88 or 89 convertible VW that had the same mount and same size fan along with the rad sensor. However it is a single speed (2 prong) type fan and sensor. When the fan runs it cools the car down to 1/4 mark, which seems a tad low. (hooked direct to battery)

How can I wire this to a switch or ignition with a switch ?

Sadly I've not had the cash to get a bentley manual yet. I had to put a good chunk of change to get this thing road worthly (body work) and times are tough at this time.
