Title: No. 1 cylinder
Post by: Jolly1977 on July 30, 2008, 04:52:56 pm
Bentley and Hanes both talk about the no. 1 cylinder when timing the IP, but never designate which the no. 1 actually is...

Is the no. 1 cylinder on the transmission side, or the IP side of a 1.6 NA?

ip side on all the 4 cyl diesels. but the tranny side cyl moves with the cyl 1 so it could technically be used as well....

No. 1 cylinder is the cylinder closest to the timing belt.

well i said the one on the ip side.  and i also said that the one on the tranny side moves the same as the no 1 cyl.  and is much easier to access with the pump on    clear as mud?
