from the url given: "The "dieseling" noise is the sound
created by delay between the fuel injection and the fuel igniting.
Increased cetane or warmer fuel will shorten this delay and reduce the
noise." - The dieseling noise comes from you having the timing set wrong. Setting it right will cure this. Or you could just drive with it badly out of time, and eventually wreck your engine. A dial gauge with adapter doesn't cost that much. Just buy one and set your timing right.
