Title: Flat spot
Post by: Mopar44o on June 09, 2008, 11:31:27 am
My engine 1.9 aaz is pretty flat under 1800 rpms, espically with the A/C on. I have to ride the clutch and rev it to 2000 rpms to get the turbo to spool to get the car moving at a decent speed off the line. If i let it out slowly and get the car rolling first then use the gas, I can bury the pedle and it will slowly acclerate. Its slower than a guy on a bicycle :(

Is this engine normally that gutless under 2000 rpms? Or is it further tuning issues? I got it to idle good with the a/c on recently, what else can I do?

mine is like that too... i'm pretty sure it has to do with the pump and or timing.

Talked to a mechanic today and he was saying that in 97+ the put a cut off switch for the a/c. So essentially it would kill the a/c when u accelerated to take the load off the engine.

So basicly I gotta a spool the turbo up or just kill the a/c when getting going from a stop...

Is that true?
