Title: 228mm VR6 upgrade kit. G60
Post by: subsonic on April 07, 2008, 03:44:37 pm
So it looks like I will be picking up a 02A TDI tranny for my project.  I will be staying with a mechanical cable clutch setup.  Do I understand correctly that I can upgrade this setup with a 228mm VR6 pressure plate and clutch setup? This does not have the dual mass flywheel.

Called about a g60 flywheel today, parts guy asked me which one I wanted.  Didnt know there was more than one kind.  Needs to fit a 02A TDI tranny and be able to mount up to a VR6 clutch kit.  Anyone have the answer?

What I know, rare Rallye fw is lighter than normal. Normal fw is 028105269B or 028105269BX as far as ETKA says. My fw had different number, but canīt find the picture :? Same flywheel is used with 2,0 4-cylinder Volkswagens. :!:

Edit: Found the pic (http://www.kotinet.com/matti.farm/Scirocco/IMG_2439.jpg), fw is from ī91 Passat with 2E engine.

the flywheel you want is from g60, clutch and PP need to be from vr6 like you have stated..

is the sickest deal I've ever seen on them.. FYI you want the Sachs *** not the Valeo.. rated for higher power.. One drawback, the flywheel is lighter, you can read all about pros and cons of that for yourself though.. I say go for it..

I had seen that link before.  Your right, that is a very good deal.  As a matter of fact, I liked it so much I went ahead and ordered one today! :)
Should be here by Friday.  I am good with the 14 pound g60 flywheel.  I am guessing you were talking about chatter when you were talking about the possible downside to the lightened flywheel.  This one will still be heavier than the lightened 210 I was going to use if I stayed with a 020 trans.  Stock is supposed to be 22 pounds,  This one will be 8 pounds lighter.  I am hoping that the weight reduction will help with throttle response.  I think at 14 pounds it will still be heavy enough for good highway cruising.

Of course the real reason I like this setup is holding power.  No slippage under full power  / gear jamming   / 30psi boost action!

Stock weight flywheel is 21 lbs. 0.8 oz. And yes, that's the kit that will work great in your car.
Good luck!
