I decided after reading up on the mod for quite a while to try and tackle the mod tonight. Everything went well, got the pump apart easily, pull the springs and put a solid piece in shimmed t, and changed the o-ring on the shaft as well as the seal on the cover. Took a little bit of figuring out how to slide it right so the cover would go back on and line up but got that to happen and now I am stuck with the springs. It does not matter how I try to get them back on it just will not work. Does anyone who has done it have any tips for putting the springs for the throttle arm in and get the arm back on?

put the assembly back together without stretching the springs.
after that pick the end of the spring with a wire and with the help of a pliers pull the spring to the normal and operating position.

Yeah its a real pain in the a--. Probably someone who rebuilds these things day in and day out has tricks, but I usually end up basically putting the throttle shaft back together, with the 10mm nut kind of loose on top, then I grab the very end of the spring with a small Vise Grip (a needle nose Vise Grip works best) and turn it around until it "catches" over its seat. Thats the only way i've found that works.

And for yet another way, I use a piece of welding wire looped around some kind of handle, screwdriver or whatever, and use that to pull them back in place. If you have an AAZ pump, you have to have the top bolt loose or you won't have room to get the top spring on..

Thanks guys I will give it a try tonight when I am back home. Hopefully it goes better than my attempts last night.

It worked! I first had to replace the bracket on the throttle arm that connects to the shaft as mine had split in two before I bought this car but once that was done and I had tightened it all down with things pointing the right way and all I grabbed the springs with some wire hooked around a screwdriver and had the springs in place in no time. Thanks for the suggestion you guys, its awesome to have you guys here for advice I would be sunk without it.
