what motor mounts and trans mounts are you guys using? im going to have an aaz and want the setup to be as stiff as possible without creating too much vibration if any
thanks for any information
-
IMO it's one or the other. Stiff = poly bushings. No vibrations = good old rubber. My 92 Golf came with poly's c/o the PO and holy crap were the vibrations nasty! BIG difference with new stock mounts back in.
Haven't checked out the new technology out there regarding mounts (as far as stiffness vs. comfort) but there may be something out there...
Cheers,
Andy

hey thanks for the help!
do you think that if i ran a mix of polly and stock that there could be a compromise?
like polly front and rear, then stock for the trans? or some combination there of?
-
what year car is it?
-
86 golf

on my mk1, i use a poly front mount
then the rest are "hd rubber mounts"
i filled the gaps with a sand/epoxy mix on the trans side
the right side is only filled with the epoxy sand mix on the bottom of the mount
rear mount is hd
it has slightly more vibes, but ive never broken a mount either
its nothin like a rear poly mount ,those are the worst
i put one in my old gti,and it vibrated soo bad,i couldnt imagine it in a diesel
id post a pic, imageshack is crapped out right now

I wouldn't mix. Never had good luck with that approach except at the beer store :) I've had two experiences with poly and I'll never do it again...
-
the front solid mount isn't a bad idea... you will get more rattle, but they last forever, and that is what a diesel is all about!
-
i got polly in the front mount, thats the easy one to do...
makes for slightly more rattle although Id say the stiffness and torque transfer is better...
there hard as hell so im sure they would last forever...
