My baby's showing 99,500 miles so I thought I'd give her a present, a 30,000 mile GTD engine (£150) lovingly blessed with EGT pickup, boost controller, blocked BOV valve and disabled governor. :thumbs_up
Thought it might look better with a coat of paint so I did just that, gloss black HT paint in the gun and blow over the whole lot and the gearbox.

Not show quality, not scene but low maintenance and should look tidy in my satin black engine bay.

Ok she's now in and running and despite my stupidity not marking up the spline when doing the gov mod - my guess seem to work right first time.
post about spline......

All seems well apart from some kangarooing just of idle, she starts well, idles clean, smooth and lovely.
She will pull away with no accelerator pedal input, however, start to accelerate gently and just over 1200 rpm, the engine chugs and kangaroos - it only lasts for 100 rpm band if that, and as soon as the slightest amount of boost starts to flicker the gauge, everything cleans up and she's off like a rocket.
So, I can't see how it can have any effect but would spline position cause this? surely it just moves a flapper plate forwards and back?
pump is timed to 1.00mm
in all other areas the engine is perfect apart from mr boost pin needing to meet mr grinder.
The situation improves when the engine is warm but never disappears.
can anyone help?

Afraid I can't help, but I'd like to compliment you on how it looks!
Cheers & good luck,

What did you do on your gov mod?

I had a similar problem, turned out to be a shagged hydraulic engine mount. (The one by the starter motor). Easy to test, raise & prop bonnet, start engine, apply handbrake, stick it in gear, try and drive off, peer through the gap & watch what the engine does. Please apply some common sense & don't sue me when it all goes wrong. If engine flops up six inches like mine did, then new mount time. I had spent six months on this annoying "fuelling problem", did I feel stupid? :?

Why am I the Kiss of Death to threads? :?

Cos you provide good answers? ;)

not this time he didn't!
The mount is a good one, or at least the front mount is.
I did remove the damper from the throttle but can't see that making any difference.
It's gotta be fuelling as you roll off the throttle and the engine coast down towards idle it goes through the funny rev band and almost cuts out - seems like there's no fuelling at all.
I'm gonna try moving my throttle spline. can't hurt can it.

remove the primary spring and replace it with a stack of washers slightly longer than the original springs length - could that be it?
