I've read that Canada is the place to find them. Does anyone have a line on a junkyard that has some for sale? What is the price of one? Thanks.

Contact Tyler burn_your_money on here, he can get them.

Thanks. You guys are a great help. I don't need it right away. My NA 1.6 runs good, but I want more power. I also need a winter project. I'm gonna start shopping around for a complete engine. Turb, manifolds, IP, and all. Milwaukee isn't far at all. When would you be looking to sell it? I'll also see about shooting Tyler a message. It's a 26 year old car and my daily driver, so I'm not looking to dump too much money into it. :)

well I'm waiting for some parts from Tyler (burn you money) as we speak to complete a 1.6TD that i have sitting in the garage! I would not recomend using any part of a N/A to convert it over to a turbo motor the n/a cannot take the heat that the turbo produces! all materials used in a TD is special for it's purpose! there is alot of discussion in this forum on that topic if you do some searching ! it has been controversial topic! thier not cheap pretty expensive down here in the states! there is a high demand for them! so make sure you have a decent car to put the motor in! because once you go turbo you will never want to go back to N/A it's addicting!!! unless you own a caddy or syncro vanagon a TD engine will be worth more than your car!
thanks Duane

It'd be going into an '81 rabbit with 97,000 original miles. Very good shape. I plan on having it resprayed to make it look as good as it will eventually go. :D

I personally believe that the NA engine is capable of maintaining stock boost levels with slightly less then stock fueling with a good IC and oil cooler.
BTW don't bother contacting me unless you want to pick up the engine. I'm in school now so I don't have the time or space to organize shipping an engine. plus you'd be looking at well over $400 just for shipping

Well, it's good to know you can get them. I'm still wanting to go to London, ON to visit a friend and pick one up. I'll let you know when I plan to do that.
