Post by: 96jetta on November 10, 2008, 10:55:00 am
i just finished doing the head guasket and timing belt in my 96 td 1.9L jetta. it kinda runs but hesitates a lot then runs for a bit putting out a lot of white smoke. i was told it was the fuel injection pump was timed wrong and as much as i play with it it doesnt do a whole lot.

PLEASE HELP!!                           thanks Geoff

it could be timed 180 out... did you install the injection pump locking pin as well as the camshaft locking plate when you changed the timing belt???
