Those downpipes are remarkable and soon as I get my funds togethor im ordering one! Fuc that pic is beautiful....Im sold! :shock:

Maybe could we work something out for the Cam/Intake mani/Downpipe?
I could send all the cores to you in B.C from Toronto...NOT a problem!

sorry to bring up an old post.. i just checked my old posts myself and saw this unanswered.

it's not for the car in the picture :P it's for an mk2. although i possibly may get a 3" one for the pictured car as it's got a 2.5 incher.

No wonder that unit is expensive to make. Why is it not one piece? That would cut down the cost considerably.

It is not one piece because of the vibrations.  A solid downpipe would not last.  Even flex sections like Dave put in my downpipe wear out with the movement that these VW diesels put them through.  The alternative to a flex joint is to go back to a "toilet bowl" like setup.

I'm glad to see he switched to stainless for the pipes. After only a year of use, mine is very rusty, even though I spent a lot to get it ceramichromed. :cry:

Actually, yours is looking about the same as mine, and mine is 2.5" 304SS on my 1.6td.  Its gold colored now from exhaust heat, roughly from the turbo flange to a foot or so down stream.

I have the PP mild steel pipe on my 1.5td, and after an hour or so run time, its one big wad of rust.
