87 gold 2 door jetta. 400k kms on the body. I don't have an engine for it yet. It might be NA or TD. I might get it painted as well, it has some rust but not a whole lot and I'd rather see it taken care of rather then rusting out

Get a job at teletech :D lol

Yeah i'm going to put in a resume at canadian Tire, and Home Depot tomorrow. Hopefully something comes up.

Hmm if i have any cash when this car comes around it sounds like it might be worth it to take a look. Right now i have a 1994 Chrysler Concorde with the 3.3L v6 and 4spd auto. It has 345,000km's on it and doesn't burn any oil. The body is just starting to rust. It was a good looking car til some woman with a Saturn SL2 side swiped me. So i'll drive it until i can afford something new or it dies on me. (I think the tranny might be on it's way out it's starting to hesitate and slip)

flush your tranny and put in some lucasoil tranny treatment stuff... i've averted many tranny failures using that stuff.  especially on my automatic golf.  1st to 2nd had permanent damage, but it lasted an extra 2 years with all my torture and abuse

Yeah i'm going to as soon as i can get some money. The tranny is original which is quite an improvement over chryslers first A604 they put out in 89. I had an 89 Caravan with the 3L and A604. The first tranny lasted til 70,000km's the second lasted til 205,000km's before it let go. I would have found a junkyard tranny for it but the body was swiss cheese. But yeah a $15 filter $25 of Chrysler ATF and some additives will definatly help out as i don't think it was ever changed. I just kinda inherited the car after my van died from my brother. He ook the mileage from about 90,000km's to 343,000km's in about 2 years.

What department at c-tire do you want? I worked there about a year ago in the warehouse. low pay and I wasn't getting alot of hours. If you want some good money put in a resume at seymour windows, as long as you aren't a student and can read a tape measure you should be able to get a job. I worked there for 8 months or so.

my dad had a chrysler caravan... he was telling the guys about some weird noises and they said that it was just the solenoids... so then on the highway bang... 4th gear blows... then my dad said "hmm must be those damn solenoids!" so he gives her more... blows 3rd... then drops down to 2nd... blows that... and then finally blows 1st to make sure the transmission and those nasty solenoids are all destroyed so they have to give him a new transmission.

well my dad got a new transmission, and installed a nice big tranny cooler.  this all happened at around 75'000km (my dad was towing a decent sized trailer in it.. probably the main cause).  Suffice to say that the tranny cooler helped out HUGE because the tranny lasted until 230'000km towing loads in excess of 3000 lbs (sand, gravel etc), until the van got stolen and they spilt get this.. lobster juice... in the van???   so my dad took the money and that was that.

supposedly using that oil extreme stuff in the tranny some dude was towing 7000 lbs in his caravan no issues.

Hmm well i'm a student so that majourly cuts down on my job options. I was thinking of working in a warehouse, pumping gas, or some kind of garage work 4-11 and weekends. Not many places are open that late and the ones that are aren't willing to change shift schedules. Either work a full shift or they won't even look at you twice.

Hmm interesting about the caravan. They had problems with the trannies and motor mounts. I just changed the oil in my car today and it looks like the tranny cooler lines are seeping. Going to have to get a filter and gasket kit. These Chrysler trannies are supposed to hate any ATF other then Dextron +3 7149 or what ever it is the OEM recomends. Don't know how true this is.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J_0l-zI_pzc

that might be your ticket... LOL  even has a mini video showing you how to do it!!!

http://www.contractxchange.com/

i'd recommend them... i was going to work there if i didnt find a job (obviously found one)

i was referred by someone who was working for the CAA call department.. basically get calls from CAA clients.  Best of all its from home!  flexible hours too.

now it IS quite pricey to get started, so that might throw you off.  Just an option!

you could get a job at like walmart or zellers, or sobeys or A&P, they are all open late and I know they have alot of students

c-tire has a crappy discount though, so don't look forward to that. 15% after 3 months
