There is no such thing as permanent gear oil, or permanent automatic transmission fluide.

"Permanent" just means good for the duration of the warranty

Hate to bring up a rather old post but i need help in this area. I have replaced the O-ring twice now and still face a leaking problem albeit the second time is no where near as bad.

Are you guys just getting your O-rings from the Dealer or is there one in particular that i need to be getting? My first leak was pretty bad but i could see why since during the oil change the shaft holding the oil cooler in place was loose but this second time i made sure everything was tightened up and i am still getting a very slight leak down my oil filter(few drops worth when i rub my fingers over it after driving around).

One thing i noticed from this post is adding grease to the o-ring which i did not do and wanted to know if that is what everyone else does too. thanks

You could always try to smear a very light coating of The Right Stuff on the mating surface. I had to do this with the water neck on my head as it kept leaking due to a poor seal. You just don't want so much that it oozes out, gets in the oil and clogs something up. Just a paper thin layer.

sounds like the only gasket you didnt change was the flange (3 allen bolts)

Id look there as Ive had both that one leak and the o ring one you just replaced.... Mine didnt stop leaking because later on I found that the box was crushed alittle....

some joker musta put it back on too tight or forgot the o ring tightend it and noticed he left it on the floor.... having to re-do the job and re-put the o-ring in all the while the matting surface was destroyed!

all i know is this o ring creates a hell of a mess....atleast it wont rust on ya
