Don't know if anyone here has any experience with these, but we just brought home a nice one last week. It was just serviced in a BMW restoration shop. They changed the timing belt, but the mechanic told me they didn't have the diesel timing tools, so they just diid there best guess on timing it.
It looks like my VW dial gauge fixture will fit the (VE) pump, and I have found a print out of the procedure and specs, but I don't have the pin that holds the crank at TDC.
Does anyone here happen to know the dia and lenth of this pin? I have a lathe, so I could knock one up if I knew. Failing that, I guess I'll try a set of drills and see if I can find one that is a good fit.

I have home made tools for the crank lock pin and the cam lock plate. The crank lock pin is stepped, a straight pin won't quite work. The VW dial guage will fit. The only elaborate tool is the cam lock. It's all at the shop, I'll try to get some pics tomorrow.
