Here's an odd Audi question, for those of you who don't have the engine in the car.
What's the bottom end of the turbodiesel block look like?
I'm trying to figure out if there's enough material in the bottom end of this CN block I have has enough material for me to safely drill and tap for the oil jets, or if I just need to hunt up a turbo block as well as pistons and everything else.
My thanks for advice from those in the know.
Hi, I have an engine but I have to pull the crank out in order to have a good view at the bottom end. I will post some pictures as soon as I have time. Herman
Here ya go:( I added the steel head gasket and piston)
Steel 2.4D headgasket compared to 2.0 TD headgasket
Steel gasket in place, note unused oil return opening
2.0 TD piston with cut out for oil squirter
2.0 TD bottom end with cut-out for oil squirter
Thanks man, those pictures are exactly what I was looking for!
Now I just have to put the CN up on the stand, flip it over, pull the guts out, and see if that bottom end has enough metal in the right places...
I met a machinist who made a diesel block into turbodiesel he added the oil cooler jets. He claimed it was just a drill and tap job, very simple. I am not sure I would attempt but I don't have the right tools either...
