1.9 ALH Timing with pulse adapter and timing light help

Hello all,
Stock 1.9 ALH, GTC1549VZ turbo, electronic controlled VNT, 0.216 nozzles going into a Geo Tracker.
Motor is still in the running Jetta, so I will be able to lock everything to TDC and mark my new flywheel.
I will be receiving my built, 150hp flow, m-tdi pump in the mail soon (12mm head with 20mm shaft)
The pump will be set at 1.44mm on the timing he said (or whatever I specify)
My question is with a pulse adapter and timing light what is the procedure to adjust timing with the light instead of a dial gauge?

With a timing light, it's common to aim for 12BTDC.
With an old vw diesel there is a block on the flywheel that sits right where 12BTDC is.
With some strange flywheel you would have to measure it out and mark it at 12 degrees from TDC.

I have an ALH from a 2000 Jetta, do these have the 12* marks? If so when I remove that flywheel is it possible to transfer that mark to my new flywheel.
If I am understanding correct, I shoot the light at the flywheel instead of the harmonic balancer like a gas engines?
Talked to my pump builder yesterday and he set the pump timing at 1.40, he said that should be very close to 12* on an ALH.

Setting the pump to a close timing is great.
The pulse detector and timing light takes the injectors into account.
Super quick and easy way to time it.
The ALH flywheel must have a mark for 12 BTDC.
I put a new clutch in my M-TDI, when I swapped in the 02A and needed the hydraulic clutch.
I'm sure I timed it to 12,.. but I can't remember what it looked like or if I had to make one.
I'll have to go look for the mark on a stock ALH clutch.
If there is no mark, you could measure and divide by 360. X12
Kind of depends on what part of the flywheel you can see through the timing hole.

So its my understanding that the ALH mark is at TDC. Could I figure out where I want my window to be on the suzuki bell housing and referencing the factory mark, make the new 12* BTDC mark somehow?
