You are doing this right. Starting with the ARL block and bigger turbo. With the VNT-15 in my MK2 golf with the same pump I can only use half the peddle before EGTs are at 1200F and boost is at 15+. The response is fast. I let my neighbor drive and told him don't go past 15psi. He has a diesel truck and was surprised how fast the boost and EGTs hit the limit. He was also surprised how fast it took off.
