LPG injection into a Diesel Engine
« on: May 29, 2006, 03:38:26 am »
A dutch company has designed a LPG injectionsystem to get more % diesel burned:

http://www.gasotronic.nl

Or a babelfish translation:

http://babelfish.altavista.com/babelfish/trurl_pagecontent?lp=nl_en&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.gasotronic.nl%2Findex.php%3Fpage%3Dhome

In short they say that a dieselengine burns about 85-95% of the injected diesel, with a LPG injectionsystem up-to 98%. The LPG is ignited by the diesel and burning thru the cylinder igniting diesel in parts of the cylinder that are slower burning.

Nice idea...

i speak Dutch

they got a patent on it

they say.
15-30% more feul economy

Up to 35% more power

You become a mix of diesel and LPG
They deliver it for all kind off diesels

With the LPG, you can burn up to 98% of youre diesel, a normal diesel just burn about 85-95%.

I think some of the diesel passenger ferries around here run some LNG (natural gas) for that purpose and have for several years.  Anyone heard of that?

Hadn't heard of using it in ferries, but given the amount of black smoke, and the low quality fuel they use, I can imagine that they're not getting a very complete burn.  I wonder how much incomplete burning is actually going on in a well adjusted VW though.

In an IDI? A lot...

In a TDI? Not so much.

LPG fumigation is rather popular as a performance mod on diesel trucks, but that's on trucks where they're overfueling so much that five seconds of WOT can smoke out a VERY large area with THICK BLACK SMOKE.
