i have found,,for reconnecting the springs,,that a piece of safety wire,tied in a loop at the end,and held with needle nose vise grips,is easier on you than any other method,,ive tried,,,i do have a spring stack sittin out in the garage,,ill try to snap a pic or 2,,not braggin,,but imust have had the top of my pump off 30 or 40 times since ive got my tdi goin in the end of january,,,,,,i could really do it blindfolded i think,,,,oh also,,i found a neet tool,,,get yerself one of those allen wrench sets that has the little ball on the end,,for obstructions,,i could get you the part number for the metric set, snap on,ive got that too in the garage,,,a set from like 3mm to 8 mm from snapon was about 22$ right off the truck,,,,,,,,,,the obstruction end is handy for the two 5mm bolts on the "pump head" end,,that wayyou dont have to mess with the idle screw,or max rpm either,, great time saver,and has just enough angle toworkproperly,,i add a wrench to the lil end to increase leverage,,,,,ill try snappin some pics tonite,,try to post emup around 10 1030 pm eastern time
