Hey guys!! new member here, although ive been lurking for a while!
Ive got a mk1 caddy with a 1.6gtd lump, sb code and recently replaced my turbo due to it blowing the oil seals. newly rebuilt never used turbo was fitted. fitted new Intercooler too as a precaution. fitted everything except the turbo oil feed, removed fuel cut power, so i could crank the engine without it starting. but im not getting oil to the turbo. removed oil feed line to check for blockages, all clear. This problems driving me nuts!

G'day,
If the turbo is getting no oil, the other bits might not be getting any either. I would pull the vacuum pump and run the oil pump shaft with a drill and a socket+extension, then check for oil pressure at the head and turbo feed.

I have seen some pretty rough oil pumps and never seen one that didn't build or move something. Spin it again for a while and fast.

ok. i removed the turbo feed completely, ran the pump on the drill clockwise & anti clockwise for a good minute, and nothing out the hole. what else could it be other than a dead pump?

It could be an issue with a clearance being do large that the oil leaks out there instead of at the turbo. Pulling the pan and looking at the oil pump is a good first step, though.

I usually prefer to do diagnosis before ordering parts for a repair because that to be a less expensive way to proceed. There are other potential reasons for no flow other than the pump itself AND even if it is the pump, then if it has been running without any oil flow, the entire engine could be beyond the point where repair is worth doing making any parts purchases just an expense with no benefit.

i totally agree. the only reason i ordered the oil pump is because i cant work out what else it could be? any ideas?

What's the history of your injectors? A leaky injector can make some pretty nasty sounds.

Yeah, open each injector while running and see if the sound changes.
