Hey folks,
just wondering if anyone has tried to put a intercooler from mk5 vw TDI into their mk1 with a 1.6td
Found one for a super cheap price, but haven't been able to find the actual dimensions
thanks

Sidemount?
I was gifted a FMIC from a stock evo8, without the a/c condenser it kinda fits! going to a slim mount fan and spacing the radiator back a bit.
The tubes will need to be cutoff, clocked and rewelded to fit nice. Tanks look to be fine.
Just one more reason to buy a TIG welder!

They will build what you need
1.25 thickness
Thanks for the help.
Although here is where it gets pretty cheap and hillbilly -lol
I have an extra mk1 hood - kind of rough - I was thinking about cutting>installing hood scoop and installing a smaller inter cooler directly above the turbo. ( from a mazda) Sort of like a mk1 gtd euro.
I guess the benefits would be - a short run for piping, I have all the parts less the scoop.
Downside - might look like ***e.
Might be a fun weekend beverage related activity. I guess it would be better then no inter cooler and I have most of the parts - less the scoop - but have access to a bender.
Any direction or help would be appreciated .
