new exhaust

I want to put a new 2.5 exhaust on my 91 jetta TD.
What would be the easiest way to build one up?

Someone suggested using flex pipe to map it out, drill holes into the flex pipe and spary in self expanding foam. Then take the creation to a bender to get the pipe bent to match the pattern.

Knowing nothing about making an exhaust, this seems a little... odd.. is there another way?
Can't you just take teh old one off and have the shop bend new pipe in teh size you want to match?

Also, whats the best way to fabricate the down pipe?

if you buy a downpipe from passenger performance or TT then whats left is essentially just a straight pipe to the axle, and then the standard over-axle bend at the back. easiest going this way. you can try fabbing up the downpipe yourself but its the most complex part. you, like me, sound like you're not in a position to do the work yourself, so i recommend buying the downpipe (thats what i did). PP has a good price. i've also heard of the over-axle bend being available to purchase in 2.5" but i forget from whom.
