Yea, I have avoided doing anything to the truck as of yet. One thing will get cancelled by another. For now I'm going to sit tight, bills have eaten up my project money for now. :(

rather than buying a 1.9 n/a, why dont you just boost your 1.6? you will be more satisfied when you get done too..

plus, it will get better economy as well, with the 1.6, over the 1.9..

and it will be more fun to turbo-swap the 1.6, and you should be able to get all the turbo bits for ALOT less than the cost of a 1.9 IDI..

or is your 1.6 just plain worn out?

if your engine is 100% stock as of now, there is even substantial power to be had, just with mods to your existing engine and hardware..
92 Jetta GLI - Black, 1.6D w/ GT2056V turbo..
86 GTI - 4 Door, Med Twilight Gray, Tow Machine..
86 Audi Coupe GT - Tornado Red, All Stock.. WRECKED.
89 Toyota 4Runner - Dark Grey Metallic, LIFTED!

Turbo: exhaust gasses go into the turbocharger and spin it, witchcraft happens and you go faster.

damn junior, turbo that shizz!!

the stock head gasket and bolts are good for up to 20psi reliably..

usually the turbo is the limitation, not the engine  ;D

im running a GT2056V on a 1.6n/a engine in my 92 Jetta, and ive been running it like this for quite some time..

the engine has probably had boost for 50-60k miles now, and still runs great..
