yeah it runs fine without one, but the climate control has need of vacuum and I do want to get it working correctly because I do plan to use the A/C (OK gets hot in the summer)

The top of the nipple is the connector for your pwr brake booster - a side prong is the feed for your HVAC ducting/flapper connection.

(to a point), not quote sure about the heater/ac box.....but I'm trying to get a handle on the stock vacuum setup, before I try to convert it over to the cabby controls so I know what goes where. Looks like the main difference is the vacuum manifold, is a different style, and the cabriolet had a temperature capillary.
