AAZ Crank nose upgrade
« on: March 05, 2011, 03:23:08 pm »
Hi

I have an AAZ 1.9TD in a 1982 Westy and I have been reading about the crank nose failure.  I am interested in what AAZ owners are doing, have done and what they thing about this problem.

Thanks

Mike

Use the search function. The best solution is the TDI crank sprocket. You'll have to mill the nose to make it fit. Couple that with a clutched Alternator pulley and you'll never worry about it again.

Thanks for the updates and votes.

I have done quite a bit of searching using 'aaz and crank' and there are some great and scary posts.  I started this tread to get a feeling of how prevelant this problem is.  I have no doubt about the catastrophic nature of the failure, but I wonder how many people know about it or have been effected by it.

Thank you for your continued voting!
