NA slow, major mods required for power TIDI MOTOR = powe

more seriously, it is 800 X eaiser to pull power out of the 1.6 Turbo Blocks; this would require a major rework of the engine, not something like turning the max fuel screw up. You would literally need to increase the cyinders to equal out to a 1.7 L motor, do major pump mods (or Giles can do this), bigger injectors, massive or    Twin Turbo setup would be awesome, massive 3" exhaust,  upgraded clutch

NA are slow as turd, you can do some mods to make them a little faster, but will never have the potential of the Turbo motor, Unless you like to sit down with a calculator, some pens and paper and calculated the exact power requirement you will need, and what you need to acheive this.

After doing the governor mod, wastgate cutoff, and some pump tweaking, plus some straight tube, you can have a very quick car when you need it, and also a very almost    efficient vehicle because the pump is not being restricted after 2500 rpm, therefore you will have an engine that works  eaiser and burns less fuel Only when  you keep her at efficient shift points (shifting at 2500 RPM in city seems to be great)  :D  :D

The 1.8T's aren't that fast... I gave a friend with a Mk4 GTI 1.8T 150hp a   face too with my 1.9 AAZ / K24 turbo @ 1.2bar with IC

Weight counts too, I don't know wehat type you have but a reasonably loaded Mk4 weights at least 1200kgs (compared to my mk1 caddy, 900kg)

Mk4 1.8T are around 1350-1400 kg.

Your caddy weigh more than 900 kg for sure (I'd say around 1100 kg).

I've been on 2 different commercial scale with my caddy when I was scrapping metal and other stuff.. with the tank half-to-full and some tools on the passenger side both scales read ~925KG

just an idea i'd like to put out, people who want to turbo there gassers usings a 1.6 idi flip the manifold and do a little grinding, i think if someone wanted to run a gasser mani, it wouldn't be too much work, assuming you didn't mine having to come with an all down pipe..
