Sorry I flaked out. I am about to order some parts, I've been holding off on installing the motor because the motor needs a timing belt. This is dumb but I do need to replace the "roller tensioner" correct? The waterpump appears to be accessible without taking the timing belt off and mine is fine, any reason I should replace it?
My parts came back from powdercoating, they look awesome, I am excited about this swap coming together.
I still haven't gotten the tank out of the donor car, I drained it, but I haven't gotten around to pulling it.
As for the gauges, I am going to pull the cluster from the diesel and put it in the gasser. Do I need to pull the dash to get the cluster out? Do I need to swap that wiring as well?
From what I remember harness for the cluster is the same and no you do not need to pull the dash to change the cluster.
I would replace the water pump well it is easy to access once in the car it will take a couple hours, on the floor with no t-belt about 5mins.
Cheers
Not only do you change the water pump, but you anti-seeze every bolt that touches it. On the car usually at least 7 of the 9 bolts break off in the housing and one of them is a through stud. If you have it out you can get all the bolts out of the housing then do it
