D24T power! update...

Just thought I would share the progress on my volvo with the D24T. I know there aren't too many floating around on this forum but I figure there are a couple of you that like the straight six VW diesel.
Got a front mount IC installed, ran all 3" tubing, and installed a D24 NA manifold. I finnaly found one in Oregon! Not many Volvo diesels in the midwest...
Running 20lbs of boost, and with the addition of the IC and manifold the power is pretty impressive. I still haven't removed the collar from the full power fuel screw yet! There is much more potential but not untill the ARP head studs go in. I have a manual trans sitting in the garage waiting to go in when the weather warms up. It will be running a clutchnet 6 puck. Should put alot more power to the ground than the worthless auto. Heres a couple pics and quick video.

Wow, cool Sweed. If that was a wagon i'd be your new best friend.
How's the .63 for around town driving lag wise? Is that the stock turbo for the D24T?

Ya I really wanted a wagon but my wife wouldn't have it. She grew up being driven around by her parents in a diesel volvo wagon and she hated it. It was like pulling teeth just to buy a volvo diesel at all!
The turbo is not close to stock size at all. The stocker is a T3 based turbo with a tiny .36 a/r exhaust and a .42 compressor housing with about a 1" outlet. Spooled real well off idle but doesn't have much potential past stock fueling/boost.

Throw away the auto and dump in a M46... Different car! My buddy has a '83 760 with the M46 and his car is damn close to as fast as mine with stock turbo no intercooler and running less boost!

Impressive. These engines were very slow in stock form, but it looks like this one is very nice.
Good work !

Thanks,
they really do have impressive potential with being 2.4 liter. Granted its probably a wash since the extra displacement is used up pushing the heavier car compaired to a Jetta with a 1.6. The engine has a aweseom sound, runs much smoother, and the car is pretty luxury compaired to the vw so its not all that bad. The injection pump comes with a stock 10mm head rather than the 9mm found on the 1.6 so fueling potential is a little better as well.

Good work !
When introduced, they were the fastest diesel car you could buy in North America.
