does it take about a day to heat up to operating temp now?

It's been floating around 120 deg..  Of course ambient temp has been in the 90's with high humidity..  I kept it floored up the mountain today and managed to get it up to 180..  I haven't run a full tank of fuel though it yet, but I'm pretty confident that mileage is in the crapper.. 300 miles and the gauge is sailing towards the red...

so, the car disappeared before i jumped on it. and i ended up buying an 85 GTI anyway. i know, its a gasser, but it runs really good, and i only paid 300 bucks for it. and everything works.. its like, a bare bones GTI tho, doesnt even have red stripe interior or recaros in it. and the windows were crank um up. whatever tho, it will make a decent rig once its dieselized.

a DUII would have been better than wrecking my car, in my eyes..

I would like to see more TDI's with bent rods. I am a firm believer in there is no such thing as overkill, but do these TDI rods really fail that much?

BUMP..  The POS made it 378 miles tonight...  Didn't even have to stop and add water..  I think the RF strut is finally toasted..  3 times when the sign said "bump" I slowed down for the equivalent of a single rumble strip..  The fourth, which I didn't slow down for, was much more than just a bump, it was a damned curb!
