Reseal throttle shaft on IP ??
« on: December 14, 2009, 07:55:20 pm »
In keeping with tradition, it's 30 below outside, so my car wants me to be working on it.

Bleh. :-\ Blerg! :-X GaK! ::)

To prove it likes me, it started, even though it was not plugged in all day, thus, not stranding me at work! :D

Anyhooo....

Wet around the top of the IP. Looks like it's coming from around the throttle shaft.

What's in there? O ring? Bushing? Sizes? Part numbers? Materials?

Anyone got a pointer to a decent site with a parts diagram?

Seen http://crustycrank.com/resealinjpump.htm good info, but not really all the info I want.

Dunno if this is a pure hardness issue, due to the temperature, or if the seal is boogered from being moved when it was that cold, but it looks like some shop time is in my future.

All else fails I have a complete pump on the shelf, but if I don't have to re-time and all else that goes with swapping pumps, I'd just as soon not.

Who's likely to stock a seal kit or be able to get one in for me? NAPA or that type store? Am I likely to get what I need at the Dodge dealership <shudder>?

 Thanks a pile!

Here's hoping it don't eat my coolant lines!

 Cheers

every diesel pump shop has it, $20 if they give you dealer  price, and will come with every other seal but the input shaft.
I had 0 luck with auto repair and parts places.
You have to take the lid off, and push the shaft out the in side of the lid.

here's a pic of the Cummins arm (different tip)

and some diagram

Thanks for the pictures. Clearer now.

<sigh> Gotta do what ya gotta do....

Looks like a trip down to Lloydminster is in order. Pretty sure thats the closest diesel build shop.

Hmmm....Cummins Dealer there, too.

 Thanks!

Local part splace tracked down a source, direct from Bosch.

$21 for the DGK-126 seal kit. I said I'll take it. They said 3 days. Cool!

You lucky, I went to 4 parts  places, called more, and even when I brought a kit in to my local parts and repair place...Who are listed on the Bosch website as a distributor...they said they'd love to help me, but couln't get it on their computer, nor could their warehouse.
