I think he meant "suka" as in "sucker".  I don't think "suka" is a very nice thing to say,  po-russki.

But "privet" yourself... I speak a little as my wife is Ukrainian.

No Kakashka !!!!  Mine is from Kremenchug, 4 hours south of Kiev, 3.5 if you take the cheap minivan bus service.

I've used the stone and ball hones. I like the stone (long skinny blocks of smooth grinding stones) better than the ball. I think it gives a slightly better finish. Something like this:

My wife is from Odessa ;)

So are you guys saying just fix #1?  I had that in mind until I spun the engine.  Now I am thinking the rings on #2 and #3 are pretty messed up since they stuck good and hard to the cylinders and I had better at least rering everything and do the rod bearings while I have the chance...

In that case, I would certainly pull all 4 and re-ring all 4, hone the bores, replace bearings if not in spec. If you plastigauge them, be sure every bearing is installed exactly like it came off.

i thought you said the cam was rusty ?
thats just minor corrosion (in poor boy speak) and should just wipe right off with an SOS pad followed with some 600 wet.

But if you find a mech cam is suitable and you have a stack of nice ones - yeh i'd prolly swap it. But hang on to it.

I've got an 82 1.6 in a Truck that was a running engine before PO decided to do timing belt/water pump. Then lost enthusiasm at halfway point, and left Vcover off while vehicle sat outside about 3-4 years. Shet happens and time flies.

Its more what i'd really call a rusty camshaft.
And was thinking of cleaning it up - and running it  :o
Send me one of those from your pile !
