1987 mechanical pump, only fueling two lines
« on: May 24, 2009, 05:22:53 pm »
Hey volks,

I am in the midst of transplanting an 87
AGS tranny into a 90 Jetta after blowing 5th gear. Parts car has 170k on it and I got the whole thing for $500!
I turned the engine and got oil pressure but could only bleed two lines at the injector. Loosened then removed two dry lines from pump, but no go. Is it possible for the pump to provide pressure to two lines and leave two lines dry or is there a clog or something?
How do I do a compression check on this? I have a tester for aircooled.

Pulled the new half shaft driver side off and kept for later.
Is it normal for hypoid to drip out from where the CV mounts to the tranny?
Looks like there is a round seal there. Any one got the part number? I would like to replace this.
I also want to get a good clutch kit for this. Any good online suppliers?
Are there any other items I should replace while I have the tranny out?

Your comments are welcome...

Thanks,

Matt

sounds like you have a couple stuck delivery valves...
is it the top 2 lines, or the bottom 2 lines? or is it one of each?
ive had the bottom lines prime minutes before the top 2 lines primed.
