Moved to the IDI section, since the engine in question is an IDI...

That kit prothe is selling has the TDI intake, even though it bolts up the ports are shaped wrong. So it could never be highly tuned.
'82 Rabbit, I put on a euro vnt-15, 2.25" DP, 2.5" exhaust, the result.....it whistled.

I removed the turbo, made a toilet bowl 2.5" DP, the result....it was deafening. Now it has a homemade muffler up front and a thrush in the rear, the result.....less loud.

you could port match the 1.6 head to make it flow half decent, but a 1.9 head will obviously be way better no matter what.  use the intake gasket to port both the head and the manifold.  don't open up the head much though.  just enough so that the air doesn't hit a 'wall' or a jagged edge.  smooth is the key!

not sure if you need a block off plate for the exhaust manifolds EGR hole or if it comes blocked...  but all you'd need to get that kit running is a custom down pipe, oil lines, and hook up the intake somehow.  a little far from complete, but his setup has some good potential.  the intake is a bit bigger than the 1.6, and the downpipe has a lot of potential as well.

the turbo will get mixed reviews, but i think it'll run just fine.  if you push it past its limits, don't expect it to last long though...  fair warning
