Daily with a little more fuel and boost.
Nothing too fancy.
Whats the verdict..... find a new one? Or put this one together?

Where from. I searched the thread and all I could come up with was that new ones are pretty much pure unobtainium.
I was also referring to the cracks inbetween the valves. Are they too large?

new swirl chambers are available. i recall viewing a post linking to a vendor that listed a plethora of different chambers of all types for all makes. don't know where it is now, and a search might take a while to sift through.

I wouldn't worry too much about the cracks between the valves they are pretty normal. Bentleys even gives a spec for the max size and those don't look even close. Cheers Dan

i'm pretty sure they're a bit bigger. which is why using the 1.9 head on the 1.6 makes it a little harder to start.
frank06 on TDIclub only does TDI heads though right??? maybe he can get the swirl chambers though?

Nope, he can do both IDI and TDI. You would have to ask him about the swirl chambers though.

My vote... for a daily driver the head appears fine... cracks between the valves are smaller than many I've seen (in general a dime is the thickness limit), and the pre-chambers are beginning to show some stress fractures but given how thick they are they probably have many many miles left.
I'd have it surfaced, rebuilt as required (guides, seals, etc) and carry on.

As another reply to the valve cracks coming from a guy who had to get a new head because of them....
my cracks in my 1.6head were enormous in comparison. An actual gap. Just visible cracks are nothing man. I wasn't so forum savy back then and i didn't think to take pictures of how big they were to show how big mine were to screw over my cooling system.
I later threw it into the local "transfer station" pit with much rejoicing following.
