Hi,
I was wonderig if I could add a window washer/wiper intermittent relay to my vanagon, so that when i pull the handle and washing liquid is sprayed on the windshiled, the wipers would come on for a while (like in any normal vehicle).
Also, I was wondering if I could maybe add a way to switch the wipers to an interval position where the wipers would wipe after, say 5 or 10 seconds...
I have a Vanagon worskhop manual and I can see that the intremittent wiper/washer feature came as an optional feature (there is a relay for that in one of the diagrams, but that's it)...
Thanks for your answers!
If the wiper switch is the same as all the other VW's at the time it should be easy. It is possible you already have the right switch which has the function in it. remove the steering wheel and switch. Look at where it moves down to contact the electrical tabs. If you see a small white [?] plastic bit stopping the movement, remove it. That is going to let the switch touch the intermittent tab. Then all you have to do is replace the wiper relay with one that has the intermittent function. While you are at the switch check and make sure the wire for that function is in place. I'm pretty sure its all there ready to be updated, VW didn't bother installing different wiring harnesses for slightly different models.
Hey, thanks! I'll check it out later tonight!
Do You know how I could make the wipers move when I'm spraying the wahser liquid?
The wipers are supposed to sweep when the washers are activated. If they don't maybe the switch is bad.
