K03 isn't the end of the world - you've probably got next to no turbo lag so you'll beat a car with a larger turbo off the line.  My K24 doesn't really make boost till nearly 2000 RPM and needs more load than first gear can provide.  I guess it all depends on how much boost you're planning on running and what your driving style / conditions are...
