Prothe doesn't sell a 1.9 cover other wise i would.
But seeing as i already have a nice gasket and cover for a 1.6 I'll see if i can find a friend with a drill press.
Thanks SOOO much for that. That was a really big issue

A 1.9 valve cover will be the easiest/safest route.

I tried the G60 VC on my 1.9 head and the stud bosses in the cam towers interfeared with the valve cover.

There is also guide pin holes in the corners of the 1.9 head that are noticable eccentric to the holes in the 1.6 valve cover.  So to do it right, those holes would need to be Tig welded, then the weld needs to be machined flat, then drilled, then tapped, then grind the bosses off the top of the cam towers.

OK, but take a look at the Pics that Libbybapa posted again.

While the 1.9 head has bosses on the cam towers, it does lack bosses for studs along the edge for studs.

The webbing for the VC gasket on the 1.9 head 'might' be thick enough to hold VC stud, but I have some doubts.

I have the 1.9 head and both the steel, and aluminum G60 valve covers,  and I'm probably going to give up and use the 1.9 valve cover.

Oh yeah ... good point. Geeze.
How thick is that? 1/4 inch?
I wonder if you could go backwards and change the 1.6 cover to adhear to the cam towers...
Yeah i may end up doing as you will. Depends how cheap i can get a cover.

Maybe if you have the room, you could drill and tap for a 1.6 cover but screw capscrews in from underneath the head to use as studs. That way they can't pull out. I'd locktite them as well if they will work.

Wouldn't tap-ing the cover only give you like ... a thread and a half? the cover isn't very thick. But i like your idea. With that in mind, im thinking of just doing a bolt method. Just since a short bolt and nut to sqeeeeeeze it together. no tap required.
How many would be excessive? 16?

No, I mean tap the head and screw capscrews in from underneath(if they would fit that way) so you have studs sticking up out of the head.  The head of the capscrews will keep them from pulling out.

Ohhh okay i see. The way i have my Cam cover right now is with little studs into bigger holes with fresh taps because mine were stripped. Id they were long enough to put a nut on that would be even better. Thanks Jim.
