I'm going to machine one in, since Cast iron is VERY tough to weld to and not have cracks develop.

i'm gonna argu that point cast iron is very easy to weld! knowing the process is the key!
pre-heat and stick weld with nickel rod ! the reason for nickel rod is it still can be machined! if it don't need any machining then 7018HR4 will do fine!
