I got one of these as well. How far on do you push the adapter piece onto the dial gauge?? If you push it on all the way it looks like the extension rod sticks out too far.
does anyone else feel this same way about the dial extension?

Yes. I used mine a few times and was a bit un-happy with how far the extension rod pushed the dial's center rod out. In the end, I ground off a little bit with my grinding wheel. It's still a bit too long, but workable.
For a starter's kit, it's really nice and reasonably priced: a perfect medium between the $150 Schelley one, and the crummy-looking emiata one. But I think I'm gonna splurge and get me an OEM Matra 2066 adapter and extension. I'm not really a fan of the allen-bolt lock on this kit.
emiata-- JUNK JUNK :x
Hmm, are you speaking from experiance?
I have one and other than the fact that it's in inches instead of MM it works fine.
yes i think the guage is a cheap china piece of crap. the injection pump timing pin is to loose. the threads on the exstention are way loose. the cam plate/bar i easily bent it one day. junk spend the money for those of you wanting quality.
Mine is in inches and has a long enough pin (about 2.5 inches) on it that I don't need an extention. I've used it many times and it works well. The mag mount I bought for it is solid and has a strong grip.
