1.9L AAZ fuel milage
« on: June 23, 2008, 05:59:15 pm »
whats an average for these motors??

with the stock turbo (k03) and the 1.6TD fuel pin i got 750-800 but mostly 750. 800 tops if i drove 100km/h
now that i have a K24 turbo and i just had to fill up and i got 950km/ 55 L
tank??

so i got anotuher 150 + just by puting a bigger turbo and one else getting this kinda milage and 950 was driving 118km/h so i would get more if i drove 110 km/h

changing turbo

did you have to do any modifications to change the turbo?  What did the turbo come from? Might want to try this myself. Anyone else had this experience?

I usually get around 750KM per tank, fully stock AAZ, timing at .93
If I baby it & take it real easy, I can stretch it out to 950KM.

Sounds great that you got a real improvement with the new Turbo. Might be something to think about...!

My AAZ (in a mk 2 four door) runs about 46 to 48 mpg (imperial) with a best of 53 mpg. That was on a long trip  at 105 to 110 kph (under 70 mph for you Yanks). Seems to be better lately, not too sure why.

Not sure about the last tank (my fuel tank is at home with no meter) but I was at 880 kmh when I filled, needle wasn't in the red on the guage yet. Mk 2 tanks are 53 liters......

When I had my Passat w/ AAZ I always drove over 1000km before fillup, just for the fun of watching the odo turn over to 000,0   8)

Wow, this is a lot higher than what I have heard from the AAZ engine.

I wonder if the larger turbo is giving you more power at lower RPM's and that is increasing your mpg's?

I've done 900km on 49L cruising at 110kph Montreal to Marine City, Michigan w/45 mins worth of stop/go through Toronto. Lately, I've been getting 700km with pure (hard) city driving. It's supposed to be completely stock w/K03, but I may be having some issues (idles high once it warms up, bad alignment)

wow 900 sounds kinda high... specialy with a stock setup......
i only got like 800 tops and thats with a new rebuilt motor rebuilt K03 turbo the only thing i didnt do was the injectors

when driving 110 i was arouind 10PSI on highway with K03 so its forcing that pin over more to pump more fuel in

K24 on the other hand only runs around 4.5PSI crusing at 115-118 or so
so its pumping in less fuel plus great power enhancment.....

does anyone know since the only thing i havnt replaced is the injectors would this be hurting my fuel milage at all???? cant complain i get 1000k's to a tank but still as there old  i dont really know,,,,or could this be robing me of more HP???

You might lose some power with new nozzles. Worn nozzles might pass more fuel, holes wear and get bigger over time.
